Ramsey Brisueno, before we had wings |

view "before we had wings" in PDF format On September 11th, that blue sky morning, I watched and listened to the horrendous news about the bombings, the loss of life, overcome with despair. And I felt helpless, among other feelings. The next day I checked my email from friends who were safe, family who just avoided being in the Pentagon area when the plane crashed, and the email included in "before we had wings." With the response of the nation (the entire world), I felt I would overcome this despair. That we are fragile saints. That life, art, and beauty will survive. And we will. This piece became a way for me to see that everything changes, but nothing is truly lost. |
