Taillefer Long, political cartoon
colored pencils and pen, 2001

I realize that the cartoon may be in poor taste from a humanitarian point of view, but it is important to understand the nature of political cartoons. I did this a few days after 9/11 and was trying as hard as possible to find some way of putting humor in something that aroused so much anger and emotion. I do not necessarily approve of the bombing, nor do I condone the Taliban's actions in any way. The cartoon is merely meant to play on the Taliban's blind fate and the West's eagerness to retaliate with bombings. Please email me if you have any comments, if the cartoon evokes any strong emotions.
