Unlike most of my paintings, this one was graphic design/problem-solving oriented. A friend was organizing a Valentine's Day charity event/fashion show and asked me to do a piece to commemorate the event. It was a tough one for me to visualize since I tend to avoid cutesy girly stuff and was completely anti- use of hearts. But as I started to fall asleep one night, this came to me as a strong image. The United States is our Habitat. The heart represents the support shared between people at the time of the tragedy. The broken lines at the bottom indicate that work still needs to be accomplished to spreading freedom and democracy around the world. |
